Dr. Virginie Litaudon

Partner & Circular Economy Consultant

From a young age, Dr. Virginie Litaudon was deeply troubled by the sheer volume of waste generated by modern society. Growing up in France and the UK, she was struck by the disconnect between our throwaway culture and the planet’s finite resources. Determined to challenge the status quo, she devoted her career to reshaping business practices through circular economy principles, proving that sustainability is not just necessary, but also an opportunity for innovation and growth.

With a PhD in Business and Circular Economy and ten years of experience, Dr. Litaudon has worked across the public, private, and academic sectors to advance circular economy strategies, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and sustainable development goals (SDGs). Her expertise lies in translating complex research into practical, high-impact solutions, helping businesses rethink their models for a more sustainable future.

She has collaborated with leading institutions such as the University of Portsmouth, Deloitte, and ADEME (French Environmental Agency) to design circular business models, deliver sustainability workshops, and implement large-scale sustainability initiatives. A key contributor to the €8.8 million EU-funded PlastiCity project, she played a pivotal role in developing circular innovation frameworks that significantly improved recycling rates in European cities.

Dr. Litaudon also spent time as Senior Project Coordinator for the EU-funded Just Fashion project at the University for the Creative Arts, where she monitored evolving EU regulations impacting the fashion and textile sector. In this role, she delivered research-based workshops to support SMEs in understanding and complying with new circular economy legislation, helping the industry transition toward more ethical and sustainable practices. In the Just Fashion project, she collaborated with various fashion brands and organisations in the sector such as Flanders District of Creativity, Fashion Council Germany, Macedonian Fashion Association, Luisa Cerano, Boboli, Bastet Noir, Staff Jersey, European Fashion Alliance, Xandres, REAntwerp.

She currently serves as a Lecturer in Sustainability and Business Management at the University of Portsmouth, following her previous position as Lecturer in CSR and Ethics at De Montfort University. In these academic roles, she educates and mentors the next generation of sustainability leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to drive meaningful, systemic change.
